Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: Small condo balcony turned into outdoor room. We enjoy reading, hanging out with the kitties, watching the sun/moon rise and entertaining on our balcony.
How did you create it? Just a little patio set, outdoor rug, some pillows and a few plants.
Recommended store, site, product or resource? Patio set from I hate to say ... Walmart, rug from Target, pillows and a couple planters from Ikea.

Nothing wrong with Walmart, Target or Ikea. Yay for bargain hunting! I absolutely adore the low profile of the patio set -- in fact, I love everything about this balcony! Thanks for sharing!

this makes me want to lounge, looks so relaxing and comfy.
oh and Walmart rocks! I really wish there was a Target in Canada.
There is nothing wrong with bargain hunting but walmart is like the worst store in the entire world... there is a reason their prices are so cheap... Not a big deal of course Karamel if you get a few things there! But Walmart definitely doesn't rock... and you definitely shouldn't go there often. Beautiful balcony though! Super jealous.
Very nice! But before anyone gets their hopes up about that beautiful patio set (I did!) - it's $1400! At walmart!!!!
very nice balcony setup!! love the cushions and the plants!
It's lovely but that giant cactus on such a small balcony looks like a painful disaster about to happen!
Lovely and spacious.
The sole reason Walmart's prices are so cheap is because they have no workers union - so they don't have to give a union money, so they can afford to slash their prices.
Walmart does rock for quality items at a decent price. Maybe you have just had that one bad experience that will make you look spoiled, Lafferteezy.
As ChrisGal states no union, union busters, and I'm a union worker... that's why I was embarassed to say Wal-Mart, but in the middle of winter there's slim pickins in the patio department. Oh and the smaller set like I got was $900, compared to Brown Jordan at 900 for one chair not a bad deal. Thanks for the nice comments.
I don't really care what everyone says about Walmart, I still shop there. None of my friends will touch the place so I always have something they don't! HA!
Ikea has a similar wicker patio set. It's a bit smaller in proportion, but basically the same. I purchased six pieces for my condo terrace at one of the Chicago suburban stores for approx. $900(last summer '08). The sections were sold separately. So you can spend as little or as much as you need furniture. Beautiful balcony, btw.
Here's the link for the ikea furniture I mentioned before.

Watch the Walmart documentary... the union is not the only problem with them... they practically have slave labor not only for the factories in which things are made but for their employees... they run businesses to the ground and could care less about their customers. Trust me. People get fired if they are even caught discussing forming a union. And I'm sure Karamel knows what I'm talking about which is probably why she said she wasn't proud about where she got it... I said it isn't a big deal to buy things from them sometimes (like this lovely patio set) but nobody should be proud or brag about shopping there, which is the only reason I stated my opinion. Huge stores are bad in general... but walmart is the worst because it is the biggest. I'm not trying to be snotty... just informative. I make $11.25/hr and I can afford to shop other places, so trust me, I'm not spoiled. That's all I'm saying.
Lafferteezy - I hate to break this to you, but Walmart doesn't have products made just for them. You can find the same products at the local Target, Meijer, etc - usually just asking more for it. I have known SEVERAL people who have worked at Walmart - it's not near as bad as you are trying to make it work. They do only offer about a dollar more than minimum wage, but you go into the job knowing that - and they also go into the job knowing there is no union and there will be no union. You are just being snotty - you don't even know that in the hell you are talking about.
The patio set looks fantastic. I know it can be hard to fill a small space - these peices do it nicely. The wicker/cushion sets are really trendy this year. I can't tell if the wicker is black or brown? I think it is a really dark brown (chocolate).
The same set is regularly available on overstock.com. I got it from them last year and even though their price is higher than walmart, I got the difference back in an overstock credit because they have a price guarantee! The sectional isn't in stock at the moment but comes and goes frequently. Here are the arm chairs from the same Aventura collection.

If this is at West Ocean condos in Long Beach, you better be shopping at Wallmart and IKEA to offset the $700 monthly HOA fees.
Great use of the space. Indeed, it looks most comfy and decidedly glam...the rug especially really adds a lot of oomph to the space. It looks like a delightful retreat and a very classy one at that. The plants look great and add a lot of texture.
PS -- that cactus looks strategically places so it is definitely well of out harm's way...or should i saw harming way?
I get dibs on the lounger :-)
"Wal mart rocks." There's a first for everything. We make policy with our dollars and get the government/corporate world we deserve.
Great use of space. And I'm a huge fan of b&w
