I live in Vancouver too - may I ask from which Home Hardware you bought the floor tiles? I've been looking everywhere and can online find them at American Costco online.

I love these floor tiles. I'm moving soon and will have an upstairs terrace. I wonder if they would be a good fit for that space b/c we will need to be able to pick them up periodically to clean under them. Hmmmmmm.

Bringing in interlocking wood decking is one thing. But pebbles? Here, it's only one bag, but what if someone were to do something like this with 5 or 10 or 15 bags of pebbles or gravel, plus people. That's a lot of weight for a balcony to support.

My concern arises from an incident at my friend's condo, where a resident's third floor balcony unexpectedly crashed onto the second floor balcony, and both crashed onto the ground level patio beneath them. Luckily, no one was hurt.

I'm not hatin' - I think this balcony looks awesome. Just curious. That's all.

I love the addition of the pebbles. I used the tiles too, but the pebbles really add to it.

The pebbles were cheap, only about 5$ for the bag. I also installed a lighting system, with the wires buried under the pebbles. At night the lights turn on automatically, and some of them are solar powered.

I can't find a vendor for the recycled teak tiles in the LA area. Does anyone know of one?

Overstock.com also sells wooden deck tiles. I was so suprised to find them there.

Gorgeous extension of your living area. Really clean and sleek...

I used to have something like that in my apartment balcony, complete with a small 'koi pond'. It's very interesting, except you might want to use smaller ornamental fish rather than koi - they tend to outgrow the pond real fast.

With that, you can consider perking the place up with a tint of oriental flavor: a piece of Asian art or two, bamboo plants and furnishings, oranges in place of flowers on the table, stone or fabric lanterns.

Think chrysanthemum essential oils for fragrance.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best - love this!

Take my advice- never, never buy these types of stones from a Home store like Home depot or Lowes. You'll think-oh I only need a bag or two. You won't. It'll take many, many bags to fill the smallest of spaces and the next thing you know, you'll have spent $300 on something you could have gotten for $50 elsewhere.

Same concept, but the eco woods tiles are better quality. If you notice, the fivah tiles have tabs on just two sides and eco woods has them on all four sides. They have a better selection of wood too. My dad put them in his sunroom and loves them. Glad I could help.
