Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it:
I always wanted to have my own little bit of land here in the city. When I finally found my house it came with a large sized yard (bigger than a normal city lot). I actually get to enjoy the outdoors, whether on the patio with family and friends or out in the garden working my mojo trying to keep it all going strong.
How did you create it?:
When I moved into the house it was a long lot with weeds and a not so healthy lawn. It's taken me five years to get it to where it is today and so far so good. Aside from trying to improve the view, I have been careful not to replace what was original to the space as well. One of the great finds was the patio set off of Craigslist that I bought for $100 and refinished myself. My garden and patio will always be a work in progress and I think that is what makes me so proud.

Craigslist for the furniture.

Howard Butcher Bloc...
What a sweet yard! It's really obvious that you've put a LOT of work into it and that you love doing so. Keep up the good work!
You did a beautiful job after all the hard work!
what a great yard!
Wow. Absolutely beautiful! And so inspiring; it makes me feel like I can drastically improve my boring yard. ;)
I love blank slate projects. Terrific! And I really like your chairs.
Absolutely incredible.
It IS a lot of work to landscape and garden, but it's so GOOD for you!!! Keep it up! You are doing an excellent job!
Just wow. I'd never want to leave....
BACKYARDS IN SF ARE DISAPPEARING IF NOT GONE ALL TOGETHER SO IT'S SO NICE TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE ALL THAT WONDERFUL SPACE. NICELY DONE.
Fraking spam bots.
Sweet!
I love it! It looks so do-able too, great inspiration!
It's very pretty! Great work!
My yard looks almost exactly like your before picture. We moved into our home almost 2 years ago, but priorities so far have not included the backyard. It's nice to see what we could have in a few years!
This really inspires me to get out into my yard and play in the dirt. Shows what hard work and elbow grease can get you. Beautiful!
I especially like the curving beds and the way you planted around the patio.
I love it!
