Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I took this 1960's Soviet style apartment solely because it has a 5 x 25" balcony. The winters are long here, so I wanted to recreate a more tropical type space like the ones I see when I visit Miami etc. Despite that, my view of streetcars and Georgian/Gothic buildings say that I'm in Toronto.
How did you create it?:
I chose tropical (looking) plants such as a Chinese fan palm, cannas, New Guinea impatiens, ferns, and fuchsia that will add to that lush feeling. I have a hibiscus standard, which I had to aggressively prune after a nasty white fly infestation took hold from over-wintering, but it should back in a month or so. Everything else should fill in nicely, with the cannas growing 3 feet by July. Still, it has been very cold lately, which slows things down.
Recommended store, site, product or resource?
The table and high chairs are "Eclipse" and the two lower ones are "Mandalay" - all from Canadian Tire. The height of the table set means I don't have to stare at the railing. The zinc planters are Gluckstein Home from the Bay. The water fall thing is from Home Hardware.

I love the fact that all the plants have variety, but the pots need variety too, in my opinion. I would love to see red pots, terra cotta, or sky blue for a pop of color to treat the eye in this beautiful visual field.

Yeah, I can see why you took the apartment. It looks great. The lounge chair and the fountain are the highlights for me... Very nice. Classic.
Frankly, I disagree on the pot issue -- as mentioned by asked you first. Sure, some variety would have been one way to go, but at the same time, I appreciate the spare and modern look he was going for. So that you notice the plants more than the pots. Anyway, bravo. You really made the most of the space, I think. I am finishing up my own out door space... very similarly sized 22 X 6 feet and it has been a challenge as its not a balcony, but rather... well, I'll try to post some pics soon.

Ikea has similar chairs. They sell the cushions separately. Both the Ikea and Canadian Tire versions are modular so that you can add them together, with or without corner pieces.

Hi - I cannot make out exactly where this condo is, but the patio is absolutely beautiful. I love Toronto, lived there for years and now live about 1-1/2 hours away in Wasaga Beach. You have done a great job and what a view. Perfect!!!!!!!!!!
