Not feeling inspired about your kid's upcoming party? Look no further than their bookcase for ideas. Corey picked a beloved classic: I started thinking about Brooklyn's 2nd birthday party, the day after his first! The theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar, inspired by Eric Carle's classic book.
I handmade all of the featured pieces, including Brooklyn's birthday invitations, birthday crown, the goodie bags, treats etc. I ordered the coordinating paper goods from an overseas company. I served all of the foods mentioned in the book. We played three games: a bean bag toss, a hunt for hidden caterpillars throughout the yard and a game to see which team of children could create the best cocoon by wrapping a volunteer child in toilet paper, within a two minute time. This party was a joy from beginning to end!
Thanks, Corey!

How cute! Love the theme and all the activities you did. I think it's great that you served all the foods in the book, I'm sure that was so fun for the kids!
Adorable! I love the crown you made and that cocoon game is brilliant.
We just had a Little Red Riding Hood party for my 2 year old. Details here:

Wish this had been posted a few weeks ago -- I wanted to do a Hungry Caterpillar party too -- oh, who am I kidding? It is so difficult to get craft and cake decorating stuff here (finding it in the States and having it mailed, etc.) there is no way I could have pulled it off (especially since I don't own a sewing machine here)... *sigh*....
I too was inspired by those amazing Hungry Caterpillar cupcakes!
Brilliant! Do you have a blog showing how you did the hat etc.? My son is 1 in 5 weeks and he loves this book, too!
Thank you so much for the sweetness! Yes, I do have a blog that follows the makings of this birthday party...
