Yes, yellow reminds us of lemons, but also of sunshine and Claire is certainly the sunshine in her parents' lives. Mom Nicole tells us how they celebrated Claire's second birthday: The theme of Claire's 2nd birthday party was "life handed her lemons...she made lemonade." Claire was born with rare special needs and has endured more in her little life than most adults. The decor for her party was all about lemon yellow!

I made tissue pom garland by making tiny tissue poms and stringing them together with ribbon. I also made invites placed inside a tin filled with Lemonheads, as well as lemonade bottle favors (both inspired by Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day!), a centerpiece of crafted cardboard boxes and a number 2 from Hobby Lobby, and the beautiful banners are from The Tom Kat Studio on Etsy.

We served a brunch buffet of mini quiches, fruit cups, pineapple bars, lemon whoopie pies and banana bread pops. So many people have prayed, served, loved, and helped our family in the past two years. We wanted to honor Claire by giving back to others so we had a lemon:aid stand at the party where guests could donate to blood:water mission, a grassroots organization that helps fight HIV/AIDS and the clean water crisis in Africa.
