Lyndsey, you had us at tacos. She tells us more about this fine party: It seems like I had been planning Eli's first birthday party as soon as he was born! My husband had suggested a Taco theme party, so I elaborated on the subject and added Lucha Libre aka Mexican wrestling to it.

Our neighbors helped to host the party in their large child-friendly backyard. We served authentic carne and pollo asado tacos as well as homemade rice and beans. I made the cake as well as the fondant icing on top. To keep with the theme I used a pattern I made of a luchador face for the cake as well as a t-shirt Eli wore that day.

We had a large group of 30 adults and 15 kids ranging from 1-3 years old. For games I made a large pinata from paper mache that all the kids loved. I filled it with age appropriate treats like individual packages of goldfish crackers, teddy grahams, and fruit snacks.

Our three chickens also joined the party for an adult game of chicken poop bingo! I squared off a posterboard into 36 sections and all the parents bought squares for a dollar a piece. Whichever square the chicken pooped on won the money! Everyone had a great time!

Thanks Lyndsey! Readers, you can see much more of Eli's fiesta here.

We love a good party! We just put together a new "My Party" Submission Form. If you'd like to share the good ideas and photos from your child's celebration with the Ohdeedoh community please submit through the form found right here.
