Michelle and Kevin transformed their dining room into a happy, bright party space for Elise & Anna's very first birthday party: We used multiple variations on a polka-dot theme to create a springtime flavored birthday party for our twin daughters.
Friends and family snacked on bite sized treats including candies and sandwiches while being surrounded in a palette of orange, yellow and pink. The festivities were contained to the dining room which kept the atmosphere intimate.
When entering the dining room from the foyer, the guests were greeted with a Happy Birthday banner above the entryway made from a variety of card stock paper and foam backing to give the letters a 3-dimensional effect. The snack table was surrounded by floating paper lanterns each made up of two to four lantern balls arranged in a random pattern. Above the snack table hung a custom Happy Birthday poster that was a silly birthday theme variation on traditional Victorian wallpaper design.
The dining table was filled with white ceramic dishes each containing candies wrapped in the orange, pink and yellow colors and sitting on a white paper runner with paper polka-dots. The girls normally rain forest-themed high chairs were covered with white fabric and hand-sewn velvety polka-dots. The lunch ended with everyone eating chocolate cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting and ice cream. The cupcakes were topped with handmade folded paper flowers attached to a circular chocolate candy.
The party was a wonderful celebration of our first year as a family.
Thanks Michelle and Kevin!
