Young and old alike can get behind milk and cookies and Amy shows that it's a perfect theme for a child's party: Emme’s Milk & Cookies Party was held October 2, 2010 at our home in Rhode Island. She’s our first child and we really wanted to make the event filled with all of the little touches that make it personal. We choose the theme as a tribute to my late grandfather who would always share his cookies and milk with me when he was visiting from New York.
The colors we chose were red, pale blue and aqua and we created invitations incorporating the theme as well as photos of Emme and our dog wearing a party hat. I found a fantastic milk carton template from Paper Crave for favors and made play dough to fill them with. We then attached cookie cutters with bakery twine and sealed them with a sticker imprinted with the birthday girl.
For décor, I created paper circle garlands on my sewing machine from the leftover invitation paper as well as made pennants and went crazy incorporating the color scheme into everything. Even the family dog, Doug was required to wear a coordinating tie that I made while Emme donned a “1” crown while she blew out the candles. The adorable cake was inspired by another blog post at A Party Style and was made by Emme’s Auntie Kelly.

i love the theme and the party looks absolutely adorable!
What an original theme! Love it all, esp the cake.
even though my little girl is only 4 months old i'm already planning for her one year bday. mainly because it takes me longer to get stuff done now ;) i will definitely be using the idea of having a picture from every month up until the first bday. i love it! i was already going to make my own pennant garland and adding the pics will add that personal touch i was looking for. and what an ingenious way to honor your grandfather and your daughter all in one special day!
Darling idea and esp love the cake!
