Emory may be little, but her beautiful party was refined enough for ladies (and gents) young and old. Her mother Elise shares: Our daughter Emory Saige has been a 'pretty girl' from day one so we planned a simple garden tea party for her first birthday.
My mother made two small cakes which i decorated with paper butterfly cutouts. The grape chicken salad and rhubarb jam and peanut butter finger sandwiches with lemonade and green tea were the perfect refreshments for a warm June gathering. We wanted the day to be lovely and filled with homemade and vintage details. A picture garland was strung to remind us of all our favorite moments of her first year and vintage linens and glasses graced the tables.

Beautiful cake(s). So nice to see a real cake instead of cupcakes! The cutout idea is clever and the papers used are fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous party!
Love the butterflies! Where did you get the pattern? And what type of paper did you use?
thanks so much for featuring Emory's party!
@silverlakemom, i just went to Archiver's and used their cut outs for free (!!) and picked clearance scrapbooking paper in the colors i wanted. we used the butterflies for garland & for the cakes- the garland is hanging in her room now!
Finally, a "my party" post that doesn't make me cringe at the ridiculous fussiness of everything! This looks cute, well thought out, handmade and hey - actually fun! No giant candy display, no evidence of having to get a babysitter just to prep for the party. Just beautiful, tasteful sweetness. Love it.
Oh, and I should mention - it actually looks like the little kid the party is for enjoyed the party! Awesome. So many of these are just for the pictures; this looks real.
