Lots of time and planning went into Indy's celebratory circus party. The party planner, his mom Kate, shares: Indiana celebrated his first birthday in grand, over-the-BIG-top style. We decided on an aqua, poppy, and lime themed circus celebration because of my obsession over the color combo and the fact that we love elephants, and were inspired by a Martha Stewart craft punch I purchased two years prior.
I scoured the internet for inspiration of circus parties, and was able to use a lot of ideas for the party. Everything at the party was made by my mom and myself, and we spent nearly ten months getting all the details together. We created: a felt birthday crown, circus sign, cupcake-liner wreath, a photobooth with custom props, birthday garland with glitter details, tissue-paper pom poms, celebration plate for the smash cake, tablecloth, pinwheels, cupcake toppers, a card suitcase, and custom signs, to name a few. My most cherished detail was the clay cake toppers of various circus-centric animals and a clown. Each took several hours to complete, but they were my crowning achievement, and the hit of the party.
Indiana had the time of his life, and I enjoyed every second of his party, from creation to completion. Our guests could not get over how many details there were, and were trying to guess about some of the hidden charms. They loved the photo-booth, but the highlight of the party was watching Indy devour his cake, while the adults enjoyed a hot dog bar, delicious salads, and a mountain of sugary treats courtesy of the candy bar.
This was a party that won't be forgotten in any of our minds, and was totally fitting for our awesome Little Man!
Thanks Katie!

Wow! This is great! I hope you took lots of pictures, because my prediction is you'll never again spend 10 months planning a birthday party. ;-) (If you can, you are super woman, and I'd love you to let us know your secrets!)
very sweet! the boys' first birthday party was circus themed, but i was too worn out from the previous year to make it as cute as i wanted to. :)
