Better late than never! Vusala made up for past regrets with this fabulous party for her daughter: Jamila is our firstborn and the fact that we weren't able to celebrate her first birthday in a memorable way has been a source of frustration for me. So this year, I was finally able to put together a party I had envisioned for some time.

She chose a horse theme, but I incorporated the theme into the party in subtle and non-overwhelming ways. Everything, except the cake, was homemade and handmade by me. We had sugar cookies, chocolate dipped oreos, cake pops, cupcakes, candy sticks and the cake for desert, along with a perfectly satiating dinner. Kids all received the sheriff (name) badges, stick horses to ride and a horse shaped sugar cookie as party favors.

My inspirations were so many that I probably won't be able to remember them all, but some of them are: How Does She, Pen and Paper Flowers, Sweetopia, Tomkat Studio and Eat Drink Chic.

Most importantly, the birthday girl and all our guests seemed to have a great time.

Thanks Vusala!
