Your baby may not remember his or her first birthday party, but you will! Kelsey gathered friends and family for a wonderful party to celebrate her daughter: While some parents forgo a child's 1st birthday celebration, we found the event every reason TO throw a grand lil' party! After all, we had made it through the first year as new parents! This party was just as much for us as it was for our baby, Lucca.
We planned loosely with a pink & green theme. We used candy, birds and flowers to create a cheerful and festive inspired party. Decorations were all handmade and started as soon as you walked up to the house. The "Let's Party!" pennant-style banner hanging on the front of the house was cut out of felt and sewn together. San Francisco streets are tricky to navigate and I wanted to be certain all the guests could find the party!
Inside, we hung pink and green pom-poms from the chandeliers to make the house festive, and hung another "Happy Birthday" banner above the food table, simply handcrafted out of paper cups and clothesline. We hit up IKEA for twelve $.99 white picture frames, where we did a photo montage of Lucca, month by month (see photo 3). Guests enjoyed seeing how much she changed each month!
Our party favor was a jar of oatmeal chocolate chip cookie mix for the guests to take and bake at home. We cut pink & green fabric squares tied with ribbon to the top of each Mason jar. We attached the baking instructions and a little note from Lucca thanking the guests for attending her party. The birthday girl had a blast & the birthday girls' parents had even more fun celebrating the conclusion of an amazing 1st year!
