Like many young girls before her Adrienne's daughter is an Alice fan and chose a Mad Hatter theme for her recent birthday party. Adrienne outlines the fun: When my oldest daughter turned four we started a tradition of themed birthday parties for out girls. We decided that between the ages of four and ten they would be able to choose a theme for their birthday and have a big party with all of their friends.
This year, my (now) seven year old chose to have a Mad Hatter tea party for her birthday. She wanted lemon cake, so we had lemon cake (and cupcakes) with homemade lemon raspberry buttercream frosting. There were tea sandwiches (some with cheese, some with hummus, some with peanut butter), teapots of peppermint iced tea and everyone's favorite, chocolate rocks (they really looked like rocks!).
Anything that I could make myself, I made. It took a couple of weeks to make all of the decorations (tiny mushrooms, tissue paper pom poms, birthday banner, cupcake tower, eat me and drink me tags, etc.) We made Mad Hatter hats and had a scavenger hunt and, despite the wind (LOTS of wind), the kids had a great time!
Thanks, Adrienne! (see more party fun here and here.)

Shaw's Original Fir...
adorable!
I love it when mom's DIY their kids' birthday parties.
Great party. We are planning a mad-tea party as well, it is such a lovely and fun theme. I especially liked the book printouts behind the Birthday sign. Beautiful!
What a fun party! The cake sounds amazing.
Wow. Ages four through ten (inclusive) = 7 themed birthday parties x 2 (?) girls = a TON of work. You are one amazing mom! The party is totally adorable, down to every Alice-in-Wonderland-themed detail. Your blog is also great. Well done!
Cool! What happens when they turn 11?
@thelittlestchicken - they start wanting sleepovers
The party was fun! I have four girls ages 1 - 8 and their birthday parties are our biggest celebrations of the year. When they turn 11, I'll get them gift cards and take them to mall, lol.
