The recipe for CJ's underseas party was food + decorations + add water: I can't believe that my little princess is three. Being a June baby, and a water baby at that, an outdoor water party just seemed natural. We went with an orange and blue color scheme to keep it appropriate for the co-ed audience.
The guests included family and friends with kids ranging from 2 months to 6 years. We made custom favor buckets for the girls, boys, and babies including play dough, fish barrettes, and finger puppets.
We set-up the lunch table outside with a mix of kid-friendly and adult-friendly foods... sandwiches, grilled chicken and shrimp, goldfish, carrots and hummus, and an orzo salad. The backdrop for the outside table was a collection of "water" photos of the birthday girl for the first three years of her life.
We kept the activities simple... a pool with slide, a sprinkler, a water hop scotch board, and the playset. The kids had so much fun playing in the water that it took effort to get them to come inside for cake.
We set up the dessert table inside to make sure that we got the kids out of the heat for a little while. The dessert table included lemon cupcakes, Rice Krispy treat balls, lemon-creme cookies, blue and white candies, and "oyster" cookies.
Everyone had a great time. The kids had fun playing and the adults enjoyed getting to socialize. And my daughter... well she talked about her party for days.
