My Party: Tama

Sacramento, CA

Rainbow jello, rainbow cake and rainbow stripes make Beka's party beautiful and special. She fills us in: For my son's 1st birthday party, I decided to throw him a semi-traditional Korean birthday party! My inspiration was stripes... typically the hanbok (Korean costume) that the child wears has stripes and that inspired the entire party!

At the heart of the celebration is the dol table, or in my case, the dessert/candy bar. Traditionally, the table is filled with traditional Korean foods to symbolize prosperity. I did a more modern take and went with desserts and candy. I also had a wall dedicated to pictures of Tama from his first year of life. I picked a favorite picture for each week since he was born.

My party favors were swirl lollipops along with mini takeout boxes for the kids to fill up with their favorite candy. We had a couple contests for the guests to win raffle prizes. One of them was a crossword puzzle with all things related to my son.
