We love woodsy rooms, so what's not to love about a woodsy party? Kate shares hers: My little one-year-old, Tom, was my inspiration. I love all things nature. (Did that say "I"? I meant HE loves all things nature!) Owls, trees, acorns, deer and just being outside. It was our inspiration for his first bedroom, so of course it should be the theme of his first birthday. And since his birthday is in the middle of winter (not his favorite), we decided to bring nature inside to him. Did I mention we grew a tree on our table for the occasion? In reality, a little dogwood fell in our backyard (Thank God! I mean…sorry tree) so my husband chopped off the top, put it on our table and covered the top with Hobby Lobby greenery. (I promise I didn’t even nudge that tree. It fell on its own!)
Oh, and we had lots of food! Including acorns made of Hershey’s kisses with miniature Sandies cookies “glued” on top with icing. Don’t you wish those fell out of trees?
We had crowns for the forest princes and princesses, a photo booth (perhaps my favorite part), and a balloon wreath (not exactly with the theme, but it WAS Tom's favorite decoration BY FAR).
All in all, I think our little bug had a wonderful and totally exhausting birthday! Happy Birthday to my sweet, wonderful, cuddly, happy, laughing, silly child!
