Jenn shares her daughter's lively playroom complete with a playhouse made out of that awkward space under the stairs: Finally there was a purpose for that no-man's land area in the basement...a playroom for Ruby! The objective of the room was simple: have an area full of color, texture and fun!
We started by putting down green throw rugs from Ikea to imitate grass. For storage, we used these great cube shelves and baskets (also from Ikea!) along the entire back wall. The baskets are soft so she can't pull them on herself and get hurt, and are also deceivingly big...so they hold lots! They are essential to keeping the room organized and clean.
The rainbow clubhouse covers up the underside of the stairs and gives Ruby a fun spot to play house with her friends (well, it will when she is older than 11 mos!). This was made out of a couple of quilts that I cut up and "custom" fit. Finally, one of our favorite additions, the mini baby grand piano. Music has always been a huge part of our lives and we wanted to introduce that to her life early on.
I had so much fun building this room....sometimes I think it is more for me than her!
Thanks Jenn!

Love the playhouse under the stairs!
What a fun room!
I'm curious to know where the large print on the wall across from the rainbow playhouse came from.
This is adorable! I would love, love, love to do more bright colors for my girls' playroom. Alas, it's the first room you see when you enter our house, and I don't want to scare our guests. :D
This is so great! I love the playhouse. What a great use for that space. I also love the piano!
i love that blanket idea. i have that quilt <from target> and the pillows. i think this was a super cute room and multi-use-able. rad.
Super use of space and love that "Baby" Grand piano. Not so sure, tho, about the scary face on the bookshelf...
I'm interested in the train...is that painted on a snowboard?
Thanks to everyone for your comments! So happy you like the room.
The print is from my hubby's work (they worked with an artist on a special project last year). I love it too!
The train is painted on a giant skateboard deck. This is all that survives from a giant toy/statue.
I hope everyone has a great holiday!!!
Is that pac-man in the back?!
Oh my a Mr. and Mrs Pac-Man - super cool!
Yup....Ms. Pac Man. That is where the "family playroom" starts!
I wish we got a peek in the clubhouse!
