A trip to the ice cream parlor may excite your taste buds, but for Lindsey it was a visual feast: When we first found out we were pregnant we knew we didn't want to find out the sex...so putting together nursery ideas was tough at first. Then we walked into a local ice cream shop and I LOVED the colors!
The walls were celery green and pale blue with pops of bright orange and purple everywhere. So we started with those colors and just went from there. We wanted the space to be modern yet whimsical, full of bright colors and fun things for a baby to take in and look at. So we decided on the light green and blue for the wall color, used tons of white to keep the space bright, and then added in pops of bright colors in all the accessories and toys. I knew that I wanted to incorporate the stripes somehow and I'm really happy that we took the time to paint all four walls. The colors that I choose were Celery Sticks and Tropical Surf by Glidden, but I wanted a zero VOC paint, so I decided on Harmony by Sherwin Williams and had them color-match (which I was really happy with).
The lanterns were my take on a classic mobile, and as my mom has pointed out, every nap and bedtime will be like a party for our little babe. The crib is BabyMod from Walmart and the crib linens are from Pixie Dust Decor. The rocker and ottoman are from Walmart as well, and I custom made the slipcovers from a few yards of white cotton duck. My husband built and painted the bookshelves, which were inspired by similar pieces from West Elm and Ikea. We picked up the dresser at a local Goodwill a few years ago and added new hardware and a fresh coat of white paint. I bought the changing pad for the top of the dresser and sewed a couple covers for it in a white chenille.
Overall I couldn't be happier with the space and am SO EXCITED to bring home our baby (due in 3 days on May 20th) and introduce him or her to the space that we took months to bring together just for him (or her).
Thanks Lindsey! (Parker is just a few weeks old - you can congratulate Lindsey here
