Christine tells us about this colorful-yet-neutral nursery. She shares:
I'm a big fan of color, but not painting walls, so I infused a lot of color into this room using accessories and fabric. The hardest part was transitioning this from our guest bedroom to the nursery and working around the home improvement projects that my husband was working on.
We moved the full-sized guest bed and my husband's desk out and also had to re-locate most of the books on the massive bookshelf. Instead, I used the bookshelf for storage bins for baby clothes and supplies. Just as I thought the nursery was finished, my husband had to go in to add three new electrical outlets to the room (since there was only one existing). Then, we got a new, larger couch for the living room, which meant I could re-purpose the lounge chair from there for the nursery. I didn't realize how big it was and had to do some more shifting around to get things to fit. I think I emptied the large bookshelf completely two or three times in order to make it light enough to move around as the changes demanded and, while in my third trimester of pregnancy!
I love having the rocking lounge chair in the nursery! It's a got a great view of the rest of the nursery. I've already sat there several times reading the children's books I've been collecting and been getting as baby shower gifts. I usually end up taking an afternoon nap there too.
My friends all helped to make an origami mobile that we hung above the crib. Among many other things, I sewed an alphabet blanket, play mat and a travel blanket for the baby and used leftover fabric to make a coordinating pillow for the rocking chair. I also cut out felt tags to label the bins to make things easier to find.
