Aleena's closet-turned-nursery just goes to show that small IS cool and one clever feature like these fluttering butterflies can totally make the room. Mom Neila describes the space: I wanted her nursery to be girly, modern, FUN... and most importantly for her room to feel bigger than it actually was. I didn’t want to create a claustrophobic child!
My biggest challenge was the small space. We didn’t have a spare bedroom for Aleena, so we transformed our walk-in closet into a nursery. Luckily it was big enough for the crib (barely!) and it had an existing built-in cabinet which worked perfectly as a changing table/dresser.
I picked a simple almost monochromatic palette, white with hot pink accents. Fuchsia butterfly decals go on the walls and ceiling. I love the butterflies because they look like they are buzzing all around the room, which makes the room feel larger. The only other wall decoration is a mirror placed just above the changing pad. I let her toys and clothing accessories the room. DwellStudio’s crib for Target was the perfect choice for her bed. It has the modern furniture look without the modern furniture price tag. Another plus is that it includes much needed storage. The mobile was a lucky find at a local children’s shop, which adds a nice whimsical girlie touch. I kept all other touches white (bins, shade, shelf.)
We made smart choices and kept it simple. The end result is a hip nursery that everyone loves to step into, babies and adults alike.

This is an absolutely bright a lovely room for a little girl. Such a small space and it feels large.
I've been seeing these decals more and more, and I love them! They are such a great way to add a special touch to a room!

I love that first picture- its refreshing!
Is it JUST ME... or does the add cover most of the pictures???
How can this be remidied???
I have the ad problem too. Was happening yesterday also.
Sleek1 and LovelyFrugalHermit - I think the ads were only a problem on some browsers but it should be fixed now. If not - please leave another comment as I'm not able to replicate the problem on my own computer.
Thanks and sorry!
Carrie
I clicked through to see the butterflies but I'm commenting because my own mother's name is Neila!!! She was named after her father (Neil), and I have never heard of it other than that. My mom isn't as cool as this one, though. The butterflies are fabulous.
LOVE the cheer and simplicity.
The butterflies create movement, you can almost feel a slight breeze from their fluttering wings. That's the suggestion they create for me. And you're right, they add dimension making it feel just a little bigger. What a fantastic and fun room in such a tiny space...it doesn't feel that tiny, the window helps, I think! Love it!!
Beautiful! I absolutely love it and find the simplicity of color inspiring and the butterflies joyful! What a fun room for a little girl!
