Joyce definitely overcame any obstacles she had putting together her daughter's room. And we think she's kicking off a new trend with these pretty bare frames: We had two obstacles when we began creating a space for our sweet Baby Amelia: our small apartment, and the overwhelming amount of pink baby decor that we encountered as we shopped for items for her nursery. We wanted to create a room that would feel old fashioned, whimsical, and fun, while still meshing with the rest of our home.
We decided to stick to what we knew and go for thrift and consignment store finds and Home-Made-With-Love projects. Our prized green "Reading Chair" came first from Craigslist and then our changing table credenza from our favorite vintage consignment shop downtown. Once we had those two, it seemed everything else fell into place. I made both mobiles and a handful of her stuffed animals as well as up-cycled and repainted a few unused frames that we had. The room has a warm, cheery feel and we just know that many happy memories will be had here.
Thanks Joyce!

Lovely! It looks like such a sweet, homey space for her to explore and relax in. Though maybe I'm a bit biased, since we just got that bedding set for our little boy on the way, and a vintage bed in the same wood tones as you've used--it's great to see how nicely it turns out!
I love that you purchased that bedding for a boy! We originally purchased it because it seemed gender neutral to us, as we were waiting to be surprised by her gender at birth :) I'm so touched that you liked it so much, congrats on your little one!
Beautiful room and great details! I have been trying to figure out how to mount my son's quilt on the wall... Joyce, how did you do it here?
Oh, goodness, after much debate, I finally decided to just put two small headless wood tacks in the top two corners of the quilt, the damage appears to be minimal except for the tiny holes left, but if you find another less invasive way, please share!!
I love this, and I love your colors - bright but also cozy. I feel you on the pink decor. We're having a girl and I never much liked pink as a girl. We've done her room up in butter yellow and deep red and I'm so happy with how it's turning out.
Tasterspoon, you should share when it's all finished!! :) Thanks to everyone for the sweet comments!
Love the room and use of the credenza! I am wondering - where is the bedding from? I really like the colors! Thanks!
Thank you nichoma! The bedding is Little Tree Baby Crib Bedding by MiGi, and we purchased ours from Baby Super Mall on sale some time ago.
my SIL has that bedding for her little boy too, i love it! to hang a quilt on my wall i just used safety pins on the top corners.of course there are holes now but not too bad. love the reading chair and tall globe!
Really sweet room. I love the yellow lamp and use of an old camera as a bookend. I have my grandfather's old camera; that is a great use for it. Also, the Jesus Storybook Bible is a favorite at our house!
We LOVE the Jesus Story Book Bible :) We're on our second read through, the pictures are so beautiful and colorful!
My little Amelia (now 2) has a "birdy tree" room (her words), too! I love to see that another mama thinks Amelias are birdy girls ;)
I love it! A lot of character, color and room to grow. Great job!
Another way to hang a quilt is to sew on a few loops, 3 or 4, so it's kind of like a tab top curtain. Then you can put up a curtain rod and slide the quilt on there using the tabs you sewed on. After you're done displaying the quilt you can pick your stitches out and remove the tabs... I think the smaller punctures from a needle vs. a tack would leave less damage. That's how I hung mine anyway, hope that makes sense!
