Ashley sent us these photos of her son Andres' nursery awhile back and we're happy to share it with you now - she wrote: We are so excited for the arrival of our little guy -- Andres Matthew -- and wanted to create a modern, hip and interesting space for him to come home to. We are also on a serious budget, live in a rented home and his room has a total of four doors...
We started by painting the room a pea soup green color -- called Jalapeno, and then added red, black and white as our main palette colors.
All of the art is from Etsy including the mobile, the alice in wonderland prints, and the flash art tattoo boppy cover. The bedding is from Carousel Bedding which has a wonderful selection of really beautifully made crib bedding. We bought the dresser/changing table at ikea and personalized it with black milk glass knobs that i found on eBay.
The tree decal -- my favorite part of the room -- is also from eBay. it was reasonably priced, so easy to put up and is just darling!
Thanks, Ashley!

I do NOT want to be a curmudgeon but I think this room is very feminine for a boy (baby boy, even). Love the color combo... I would have to say the only reason why it looks so feminine to me is because of the blossoms on the wall. Maybe if the tree was by itself or had just red leaves? Otherwise, I totally adore it!
Unfortunately we cannot paint our walls where we are living so our daughter's room is W-H-I-T-E and this room makes me a tad jealous!
The colors are beautiful!
I definitely don't think its a feminine room. Its a beautiful room for a child of either sex. Sorry, sore spot with me. No need to label a child, just love them.
I have to agree with Wendy. I think the design is totally appropriate for either sex. My dad is a farmer and his life's passion is flowers, plants, and trees.
Thanks for the great inspiration, Ashley. My husband and I will soon be preparing a room in our rental for our expected baby, and you've given me great ideas.
Great colors, great art, great room (for a girl or boy!)
Looking at it again -- those baseboards and floors are really pretty too. And the new hardwars on the drawers made that piece (from Ikea?!) look expensive!
Oops, hardware. . .
Well, if I didn't know and had to take a guess I would definitely say this was a baby girl's room. However, I think it looks GREAT; and the nursery is really for the parents anyhow so you might as well do what you like.
It doesn't feel feminine to me, it just looks like a baby's room. Why do baby boys have to have blue, or sports themes, or something dangerous (wild animals, etc) to make their rooms "masculine" enough? I think the colors are great, I'm not a fan of dark rooms, especially for babies, but I love these, I think they work really well. The room looks very cozy. And I don't think that having a tree or a tree with a few flowers makes the room feminine (love the tree, BTW.) I think some of us are too wrapped up in gender cues--which mean nothing to a baby, of course--to admire a very attractive nursery.
I think it's the artwork, not necessarily the tree blossoms, that seems feminine to me. It's all paintings of big-eyed little girls.
i think the room looks lovely. that is a great shade of green. i love the all the numbers quilt! i got one from that etsy shop, with a tree for my sons room.
very nice, for any baby.
