While Holly awaits the arrival of her little "Bean" we hope she sits back and admires the work she did creating this room for him: This is the nursery we put together for our first baby, due April 25. He doesn't have an "official" name yet, but we've been calling him the Bean for quite some time now! To start, we ripped out the old vertical blinds and replaced them with bright white shutters, repainted the room a pale teal (Geyser by Olympic) and replaced the mangy beige carpeting with a new, soft grey.
The crib and changing table were gifts from the grandparents and were made by Babyletto. Everything else was a craft project on some level! The bookcase had been made for me by my dad and grandpa when I was a toddler . . .we ripped out the back panel and wallpapered it with vintage paper from Ebay. The side table and wicker basket were old ones of mine that we painted. We tried to add as many handmade touches as possible .
The embroidered pillow hanging from the doorknob was made by me, the owl wall hanging and pillow were made by my brother in law's girlfriend, we have a ton of blankets on display made by our talented family and friends. We were thrilled to find that our parents each had copies of silhouettes cut of us as toddlers so we scanned those and framed them together. We chose DwellStudio for Target's Space crib bedding and a set of paper airplane decals from Verdigris Dye on Etsy over the crib. The true highlights of the room are the framed vintage Disney records from my husband's and my childhood collections and, of course, the ceiling disco ball!
We love how the Bean's room came out and we can't wait to see what he thinks of it!
Thanks Holly and Bean!
