My Room: Bear

Atlanta, GA

Julie found a way to satisfy her daughter's color request without too much commitment and the results are sweet and subdued. She shares: Our daughter loves purple, but we didn't want to re-paint her room. Instead, we just added a lot of purple accents.

The first was the purple rug in the room. Much of her room came together by re-purposing things from around the house. The purple bedspread was just sitting in the linen closet and so were the throw pillows. Bear loves to draw and create sticker collages, so we added a little table that had been in the playroom and we moved the easel in as well.

Ikea spice racks, which we painted white, allow her access to her supplies and provide additional storage for books above her bed. She is a voracious reader and we spend a lot of time reading together with dad and brother before bedtime. One of her favorite pastimes is playing dress-up so we included a dress-up corner behind her door with a mirror so she can admire herself in her outfits. Bear loves her "new" room and spends lots of time creating at that table!

Thanks Julie! Readers, catch up with Julie and her kids at The Adventures of Bear.
