Erin shared the quilt-inspired wall art she made for Daniel's room with us before and now we get to see more of his terrific room. Erin fills us in: Daniel's room is full of bold splashes of primary colors. My main inspiration came from the fun illustrations in Daniel's books
His favorite color is blue, so we started by painting the walls a lovely shade - Martha Stewart for Home Depot - Sparkling Brook. We then added a navy blue duvet cover and home-made pillows in all shades of blue, red, yellow and green. I found an old arrow-back chair in an alley near my home and had it sprayed with a vibrant red paint.
I created some fun wall art with quilt blocks (you featured my tutorial about a month ago) and added a bunch of well-loved toys. My latest additions to Daniel's room are two pillows made from his Dad's old dress shirts. I just posted a tutorial for this project on my blog. Instructions can be found here.
Daniel loves his room and we tend to spend lots and lots of time in there. I hope you like it too!

Shaw's Original Fir...
very nice! I'm curious as to what you used for the hanging artwork area. I like that idea!
Adorable! I'm about to transition my son into a "big boy" room, and this is the direction I'm wanting to go.
love it! you have so much talent. i've been spending time now on your blog and it's so full of great tutorials, design ideas, etc. thank you for bringing your ideas to us!
Hi friends,
Thanks so much for your comments! Means so much to me!
Melichan - Do you mean the big red cork board for Daniel's artwork? I blogged about that here: http://smallestsparrow.blogspot.com/2010/10/some-small-projects-for-daniels-room.html
I just put two cork boards together vertically and then covered with fabric.
And if you're interested in the quilted wall art, I have a tutorial here: http://smallestsparrow.blogspot.com/2010/10/free-tutorial-fussy-cut-wall-art_10.html
I used red, metallic frames that I found at Joann and then made quilt blocks out of fun boy fabric and taped them to the back of the mats.
Happy Holidays!
