The combination of grey and yellow is one of our favorites and is a perfect choice for the office/nursery Melanie will be sharing with "Dos" her second child about to arrive (a week overdue!). Here's Melanie's description: the nursery space for our second child is half of a larger room that is also half my office/studio space. I went with a yellow and grey color scheme as well as pops of turquoise.
I love that the colors work well in both an office and kid's bedroom environment - I love being in this space!
We're sure "Dos" will too! Thanks Melanie!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Love the room! How did you make the book "shelves"? They look amazing!
pretty! would love to see more info on those book pockets. are those just double curtain rod brackets on the wall?
Wow! So cute! I really like the colors.
Yay! Awesome! :)
super cute room! i like the yellow "cloud" around the crib. funny, too-- my girls' room has those tissue paper pom poms, as well as the book sleeves! ohdeedoh rocks for ideas :)
the book sleeves are from pennycarnival-- she has a tutorial here http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/february-jumpstart-2009-entries/how-to-make-a-hanging-book-display-megans-february-jumpstart-project-2009-077231?image_id=3146 . they are attached by double curtain rod brackets. i made 3 in about an hour for my kids (my girls share one right now. i have them next to their beds, so they can look at books before falling asleep). i love them because you can make them in any fabric, which really changes the look up.
melanie, i wish you the best with your new arrival! my last 3 were overdue, and it is kinda fun to see people's reactions when they ask "when are you due?" and you answer "last week!" hoping your baby comes today!!
wow. this is really good.
where did you get the rug?
thanks so much for all of the compliments - and no, no baby yet! ;)
thanks carableu for posting the book sling tutorial - i bookmarked it as soon as i saw it earlier this year and it worked perfect for the space. the only problem is that those curtain brackets were difficult to find, but i was really happy with the result.
k8theriver - the rug is from target.com from their seventeen line. go figure!
Hey, great! Thanks for following my tutorial! I'm always so flattered to see folks doing that. Yours look fantastic. I love seeing two together.
Mind if I add your photo to the tutorial on my blog? I just started a little gallery there.
I've also tried to simplify my instructions a bit.

Carableu, are photos of your slings posted somewhere?
I also made the book sling for my daughter's room. I found the double curtain brackets @ Lowes. They came in a couple different finishes, if I'm remembering right.
Also, I love the room. I'm trying to figure out a charcoal/yellow/orange color plan for my son (2 yrs) & daughter's (3.5 yrs) shared room.
I love your crib bedding! Did you make it yourself or buy it somewhere? Where is it from?
biscuitwheels - the bedding was an etsy purchase from seller babydarling. she does such great work!
what a happy room!
The rest of the room is gorgeous, too, by the way! I love the pompom flowers. Great colors.
love the paint treatment - did you do it yourself? I've never had good luck with taping off - how did you get such great lines with the CURVES?!
mdmeyer, I always get my double brackets at Lowes. They come in either black or brushed nickel (at my store, anyway). Two for about $11.
Target used to carry a similar product in a dark brown/bronze color, but they discontinued it.
abby1116 - yes, i did the paint treatment myself. i found using a foam sponge brush i was able to get the scallops that i wanted. granted, it took a couple of times to get the coverage i wanted, but was a lot easier than using a traditional paint brush!
I made a diaper bag with the same fabric your crib bedding is made out of. My living room is grey, perhaps I can bring in some yellow, how beautiful.
well i just get back from a trip and come on here and lo and behold, before i even get to YOUR site to see if baby has arrived, i get to see your awesome nursery here! so excited for this week for you!
What a gorgeous nursery! We are just setting up our nursery, and love to see what others have done.
I lived in Madison for 10 years. Seeing such a beautiful nursery from Madison makes me a little homesick.
Good luck with the upcoming arrival!
this room is so lovely! where did you get your chair? that is the only element my nursery still lacks! i especially adore the paint job!
Love this color combo - so fresh and relaxing. The rug is amazing and not surprising that it comes from Target! I think my favorite element is the yellow accent behind the crib - the scrapbooker in me is reminded of scalloped edge Bazzil cardstock! Just a lovely room all around. Thanks for sharing!
ellesbelles - the chair is actually a recliner that we had in our previous office space (which i did not care for at all!). i didn't want to purchase a new chair, so instead i bought a slipcover for it which totally transformed it!
I think this might be one of my favorite rooms! I love the colors, the rug, and those fab book holders! Good luck with the new baby, hope they come soon!
This is really sweet! The color scheme is brilliant. Be sure to keep the office electronics covered or out of sight when baby is sleeping so he's not overstimulated with the feng shui.
i am loving the photo above the crib "happy joy" ... did you make that or buy it somewhere?? please share. beautiful room! :)
One of my very favorite rooms so far. Its gorgeous and happy. Thanks for sharing!
WOW. I love this room! One of my fave nursery tours by far. When my boys were infants I paid no attention to decorating their room, and now I wish I did, considering how much time you spend feeding/burping/changing, etc. Congrats on your second addition!
smileygirl - the happy joy print was an internet purchase i found when i was trolling about online. i'm still searching to see where i found it but will post if i find it!
How did you make those great pom pom?
I've seen them a few times now on apt. therapy,
and love them! looks great!
I am wanting to re-do the room my 5 yr old daughter and 1 yr old son share~ I love this color combo but keep thinking the gray I picked is going to be too dark~ What are the names of the paint colors you chose? I love the room and congrats on the new addition! :)
Lovely nursery! I chose yellow for #2's nursery too after seeing so many lovely uses of it on ohdeedoh and elsewhere... I have tissue flowers in the nursery closet and was just debating hanging them in a cluster, but I'm stumped by how. What did you use - hooks? Tacks? Some other amazing thing that will not destroy my ceiling?
how did you guys make those fabulous pom poms?
