Any guest would be lucky to bunk with Emily in this charming room. Karen shares: We wanted Emily's room to be bright and whimsical, but it also has to double as a guest room when the grandparents come to visit!
We worked within a budget (to keep me from getting too carried away), which helped us to creatively repurpose some materials and fabrics I already owned and motivated us to DIY the rest. The orange, yellow, and turquoise color scheme was inspired by the lovely mermaid print I found on Etsy. Luckily I had a stash of Heather Ross Mendocino fabric featuring mermaids and ocean creatures for the crib ruffle and decorations, including the fabric pieces we framed as art on all three walls.

Shaw's Original Fir...
LOVE everything about this room! Lucky little girl!
Love this room. What is that wall color?
Well done! A lot of girl, plenty of tasteful colors! A lot going on, yet not too busy. Kudos!
I love the sea theme, and the colors. Not super girly and should be able to grow with her as she gets older. And hello from Columbus!
Beautiful! I love the colors, and how you incorporated bits of Heather Ross fabrics throughout.
great job with all the fabrics! i love the colors.
Great room, Karen! Can you please tell me where the blinds are from? (or what the name of the fabric is, if you know it?). Thanks, Jen :)
I often see these posts about shared baby room/guest room, and I'm wondering about the practicality of it. We just renovated our basement and what used to be a guest room is now the toddler's room. However, when guests come, they will sleep here (the room is larger now, and accommodates little person's things and the guest bed and nightstand). Do other folks with this arrangement move the kid when guests come to stay?
beautiful calm room! Love the colour combo. I'm a big fan of Heather Ross fabrics also :)
@MereC... in my experience, parents have always used a travel cot in their room... and after that a mattress or similar. My friend's son sleeps on a daybed in her office when she has guests.
This room is really sweet! Love the colour scheme.
MereC, my youngest's room doubles as our guest room, and although we have two twin beds in there, she always sleeps in our room when we have guests.
Love your color scheme.
Lovely.
