Looking at Juliet's colorful room it is no surprise her mom is an art teacher. Sarah shares: When we found out that I was pregnant my husband and I decided that we wanted the gender of our baby to be a surprise. This was very challenging when designing the nursery. After scouring the Internet and baby boutiques, the gender-neutral decor that we found was pastel and overplayed. Pickings were very slim. I was convinced that being an art teacher, I could DIY the nursery and make it unique.
Some of my many inspirations were Prudent Baby, Fabric Worm, Aunt Bucky, Ikea, Urban Outfitters, Ohdeedoh and Charley Harper. An Ikea fabric was the jumping off point for the room and after that it was a very organic process of collecting and creating special things for the baby's room.
We had so much fun putting it all together. The challenging thing was knowing when to stop. At one point my husband told me that it was beginning to look like Pee Wee's Playhouse!

Howard Butcher Bloc...
So bright and cheery. :)
bold color and fabric choices! LOVE IT.
I bit overwhelming but cheerful.
A bit*
Whoa. Way too much color and pattern for me. I love the rise and shine painting though.
That's a lot of patterns.
I love how you updated your bentwood rocker! I've been considering one off CL for my nursery but worried about it looking drab...your redo is inspirational!
I love it! I insist, I dislike grey, dull nurseries. Babies need color to help stimulate their brains. Your kid is gonna be one smart cookie.
Awesome! She'll even be able to enjoy it as she grows. I hate how people do the same blah rooms for kids - it's good to see more people embracing color for either sex and expressing themselves.
Let's face it, who is going to stare at the room for the first year anyways - you and your partner! Baby spends most time there sleeping - it's you who will sit there awake looking at it while feeding them etc.
Enjoy the awesome room with your baby :)
Loving the colors!

love the color! i did my boys' nursery the same color (we didn't find out if they were boys or girls, so i also liked it as a gender-neutral color.)
Absolutely love this!
Thanks, Sarah! I was so thrilled to see how you used Lexisworks' prints and our pom flowers in this nursery! So cheery and fun. So sweet to see Hello Bluebird goodies in such an appropriately happy room. Wish I would have seen this sooner--and congrats!
