Kari used popular sources for Little Red's room - Ikea, Craigslist, Target, eBay, Etsy - but crafted it into a unique space with "an eclectic vintage vibe". She shares: We moved into a new house when I was 7.5 months pregnant, so I didn't have much time to fix up the nursery. The layout was a challenge.

There are doors on all 4 walls and no closet or storage. Since it's in an attic and the ceiling slants down, we decided to start by painting out the entire space in a single color. We knew we were expecting a boy but wanted to avoid the typical blue room, so we chose a light yellow-green, Benjamin Moore Rainforest Dew.

I wanted an eclectic vintage vibe with a few modern touches, so the only big thing we bought new for the room was the Oeuf crib and an organic mattress - and that was a big splurge for us. But we balanced it by finding the rest of the furniture on Craigslist, and re-purposing some things we already had. Almost all of the little things came from Ikea, Target and ebay, including the mix-and-match linens. The mobile was purchased on Etsy, and was the first thing I bought for the room. It really set the tone.

There are a few DIY projects in here as well. My favorite is the dresser/changing table, which we scored for $50 on Craigslist and then re-painted via a tutorial from Barb Blair on Design Sponge. You layer stain and wax on top of the paint, giving it depth and character. Time consuming but you can't beat the results.

I also love that our nursery is eco-friendly. Low-VOC Aura paint from Benjamin Moore, an organic mattress, a sustainable wood crib with non-toxic lacquer, and lots of secondhand furniture and art will all help our new baby have a smaller environmental footprint.
