Mae's lovely room is soft and feminine without being frilly. Monica shares: When we found out we were expecting our first baby, I simply couldn't wait to get started on the nursery! Luckily, I had already covertly scouted out the crib and glider that I wanted, so within a few short weeks, we were on our way!
We wanted to keep the furniture neutral (mostly because I couldn't wait until that 19 week sono to get the ball rolling!) and the room to be cohesive with the rest of our house. We painted the walls a light tan and used coral and a pretty pinkie-purple to "girl" things up! Now that Mae is 10 months old, we have spent a lot of time in this room, and I love the way that it has morphed along with her changing needs. Yes, there are now toys out on the floor, stacks of books by the glider, and an ugly soother strapped onto her beautiful crib. But it's all part of her, and I love it.
Favorite elements...hmmm...I love, love, love her white hanging lights. I found these years ago at an antique store, had them rewired, and made the cord cover myself. They cast the most beautiful shadows on her walls in the wee-morning hours. We also get tons of compliments on her book ledge. As a former teacher, I knew that I wanted lots of books just an arms reach away!

White Enamel Four-P...
Welcome, Mae! I just love this room! Treasure is definitely the right lable for the light fixture and the whale planter is just precious!
Can you please share your source for Mae's shelves. I am so sick of the darn Expedit and these units are a perfect substitution!
Absolutely lovely!!
i love the room. do you have the wall paint color? also, i cannot believe it, but the doggie bowl with cap cover on the book shelf...i have it too! it was my grandma's. she kept her sugar in it and i just love it...for it's many sweet connections.
I second the request for the source of the shelves. I'm determined to find something besides an Expedit, too!
Beautiful room! Love the etsy art gallery above the crib. Where is the shelf from for the baby monitor? thanks!
the colors are just beautiful! A true inspiration..thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the love, everyone!
MeMoBaby & KerriS - The shelves are actually from Ikea! They are the Melltorp Sideboard, two of them placed side-by-side.
Ashdav - Our paint color is by Sherwin-Williams and is Sandstone Cove. We love it! Just the right mix of beige and a little gray undertone. So funny that you also have a doggie like ours! It was in my husband's nursery, and still contains some of his childhood treasures (like pogs, quarters, and an occasional rock). The whale planter was in my nursery :)
Meg27 - The tiny shelf that holds the baby monitor was found in an antique store. I wish I had a million of them...they are just so handy!
Thanks for your lovely comments! I'm happy to share any more information, so fire away!
I'm lucky to say that I've seen this room in person and let me tell you, it will make your heart skip a beat! Monica and her husband did a fantastic job putting together the most precious room for sweet Mae that completely encompasses "baby" while keeping the style aesthetic of their entire home intact. Of course she wouldn't tell you, but Monica's creativity doesn't stop at just room design. She creates the most adorable headbands and bows, so if you like her style here, go to www.bonjourmaemae.com to see more of her cute handiwork.
Such a pretty pretty room. My children's librarian heart sings seeing your great book choices for Mae already starting :)
Super sweet, simple and pretty. This is one of my favorite room tours ever on this site. I love the hanging white lights and what you did with them.
