Claudia created a calming nursery for her daughter and enjoyed it so much she started her own business! She tells us more: My daughter's nursery was inspired by our favourite baby shop, Baby Cottons. The "Martian" ceiling hangings were window decor from a collection from a few years back; these, along with items from their permanent "Pets Collection," dictated the direction of the decor and colour scheme.
I opted for a soothing beige as the background, and chose a faint rose as the accent tone - with splashes of a darker brown for contrast (in the wooden frames). I used vintage furniture (I painted an old oak side table), lighting and accessories, as well as a custom-made bookcase (made by my husband).
Finally, the vintage Laura Ashley linen fabrics (pillows, basket covers and curtains, courtesy of my mother) pulled all the colours together - off-white, flax, pale blue, rose, and even the dash of sage green seen in the Martians.
I loved doing this nursery so much (and being an interior design student) that I decided (after much convincing from friends and my husband) to start my own decorating business, A Room for Frances - and guess what...I do exclusively children's spaces!
Thanks Claudia! Good luck with A Room for Frances!
