My Room: Marlowe

Richmond, VA

Marlowe James' room reminds us of a ripe, fresh cantaloup...in a good way! Her parents, Chnoic and Ryan, share: We wanted something bright, fun and modern- our only rule was no pink. We've always used vibrant colors in our homes, so we wanted this to fit in with our other rooms and be a space that she can enjoy now but also grow into.

Our initial inspiration came from our glider; I fell in love with the color and print and we basically built the room around it (which can be a challenge, but I'm glad we stuck with it). We did our best not to go crazy with spending, taking our time finding the right pieces at the right price. We found a lot of the bigger items on sale and the small accent pieces at places like HomeGoods and Target. We pulled things from other spaces in our home and repurposed where we could.

Our favorite part of the nursery is probably her mobile. I'd been having a hard time finding a modern mobile that didn't cost an arm and a leg and wanted something different. So, our brother in law (with help from my sister in law) drew and then hand cut profiles of each of our three dogs. It's so unique and specific to us and it fits the space perfectly.

Thanks Chnoic and Ryan!
