We love that Nina embraced a negative about this space and thoughtfully designed the room with it in mind. And it's quite lovely nonetheless! She shares: Nina's room is small and dark but cozy. I wanted to incorporate the low light into the style. After finding Ferm Living's Dotty wallpaper I decided upon a forest theme.
Her room actually feels like a little forest to me with the wood beams and occasional streaks of light. Another challenge was the carpet that isn't going anywhere. It was new when we bought our home so we kept it.
The furniture is simple, we already had an IKEA crib and found a lovely vintage dresser. One wall is all closets separated by a desk so I turned that into a changing area. The bottom half is great for book and toy storage. I spotted an amazing vintage shelf online and I had a friend build me one to fit the size below the changing pad. We already had the vintage chair so I had it reupholstered.
I made the stuffed friends and letters, the yo-yo garland and bumper and my mother-in-law made the quilt and adorable stump house with several stuffed friends. I'd love to add a swag light and stump side table to the room at some point.

What a nice job you've done pulling the various elements of this room together! Love the changing area & the framed corkboard is great!
Painting the dark wood ceiling and beams white would not only bounce a lot more light around, it would also solve the feng shui problem of the heavy beam pressing down over the crib.
You did a fabulous job- what a warm, cheery space.
where did you get that dresser and chair? they're awesome!
