Pop art inspired the feel and color of Poppy's room terrific room. Emily shares: When I first found out I was having a girl, I was adamant that both she and her room wouldn't be defined pink. This proved harder than expected, both with her wardrobe and her room. Thankfully, I found a fantastic and fun Andy Warhol print of Queen Elizabeth (very apropos, as my husband is British) and used its bold colors as my guide.
My favorite piece in the room is the "There Is Thunder In Our Heart" canvas above Poppy's crib. The entire time I was pregnant, we referred to Poppy as Thunder, since the first time I felt her move was during a thunderstorm. Fast-forward a few months and I found this great quote from a Kate Bush song. I painted it directly on a 30x40 canvas, which we drilled directly to the wall so it was safely anchored above the crib. It's a great reminder of the journey that we went through with Poppy before she was born, and just how much we fall in love with her every day.

Precious! Love the Queen print!
Hands down one of my favorites. She got it right with the pops of red----it is whimsical, artful, and not too kiddie :) LOVE it!
Beautiful nursery!
Such a cute name for a little girl! I love the pops of color and I'm with you on the distaste for pink in girls' rooms :) Bleh.
love the kate bush lyric. love the colors.
Delish!
Long live the Queen!! lol, very very cute nursery! Love the red instead of the typical pink!
Love this room. Great work! My favorite part of the room is the quote on canvas above her crib. It's nice when art work can transcend the nursery as the child gets older OR go into another room in the house. Awesome.
this is wicked!!
Love it! I love that there's no pink business. I loathe pink.
where are the shallow white bookshelves from? i love that you managed to squeeze in some storage behind the door. we are running out of room for my daughter's books very rapidly in her room!
I love this room so much! Perfect way to do a girl's room that's not overly girly. I love everything about this!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments! So far, Poppy seems to love the room as much as we loved putting it together :)
@ noodle fever, the shallow bookshelves are from Ikea. They're actually for magazines, but are perfect for children's books as well.
I really love the red and white! So sophisticated.
Is the wall color a pale yellow, or is that the lighting? If it is yellow, can you tell me the paint color? Thanks!
I seem to be in the minority but that picture of the Queen is the stuff of nightmares.
chicest. nursery. ever.
