The inspiration for Rose's lovely room was a small painting. Jennifer shares how it evolved: Rose's tiny room doubles as our library, so we had to figure out how to integrate her furniture, toys, and animals with our collection of books and one very "adult" case study day bed (in black!).
We moved our five (Ikea Billy) bookshelves several times before we figured out the right configuration. The pink and mustard yellow color inspiration came from a sweet little painting we found in a local craft store. I found Amy Butler fabrics that complemented the artwork and had my very talented seamstress mother make the crib bedding and changing pad covers. We chose the black bird decals to tie in with the black daybed, and to give the very vertically oriented room some horizontal lines. We like the idea of our daughter being surrounded by books...the only challenge is keeping the dust under control!
