Jennifer's lovely room for her son is "baby on a budget" without looking like either. She shares: Sawyer's room is a mishmash of new, old, and handmade. The goal was to make it not too "baby" so we wouldn't have to change it much as he gets older. Also to make it on the cheap! The crib and changing table were gifts from my parents; great, affordable, Wal-Mart finds. The painting, scrabble Sawyer print, and balloon mural are among things I made. An awesome boss of mine once had a mural like this in his office. He used a different image of course, but I give him credit for this creative genius. It was so cheap to have printed at Kinkos.
The cork square was created just for my husband's 1966 Cowboys flag (he's a huge fan and expects our son to be as well). The cork works as a place to interchange new pictures and keepsakes, and will eventually be an area to post Sawyer's art in the future. The rocking chair was my husband's great-grandfather's and the side table is from my great-grandmother's house. The bookshelves are from Goodwill. We just needed another place for storage/display and I didn't want to spend much money. I love how much personality the room has. The baby has so much to look at and study and really none of it screams baby. Goal achieved!
