Do you know the expression, "hurry up and wait"? Amy and her husband were in the opposite position: "wait, wait and hurry!" as they welcomed their adopted son, Sully, home on short notice. She shares: We had a long journey to become a family, and because of this Sullivan's room hold a very special place in our hearts.
We were on the waitlist for adoption, and with private adoption you have no idea how long you will wait. It could be 2 weeks, it could be 5 years. Because of this, we picked up things as we found deals. We got the Stokke crib for a steal on Kijiji, and had the dresser waiting to be put together.
We had the shock of our lives when we got a call on January 17, 2011 that a little boy had been born and we had been chosen!
We had 2 weeks to get his room together before Sullivan came home. We rush-ordered the wallpaper, took many trips to Ikea, and had family and friends help us out. Our amazing little boy is home now, and we are finally a family. Sully loves staring at the wallpaper, and we can't wait to tell him the story of how his dad and grandpa slaved over that wallpaper for a whole weekend, while we waited to bring him home!

LOVE this. i'm a waiting adoptive parent, and i feel like i'm getting too much inspiration looking at all the nurseries, but yours is just right. impressed with your ability to gather but not over-do!
LOVE THE USE OF AMY BUTLER WALLPAPER ON ONE WALL!
This nursery is gorgeous and congratulations on your new baby!
Love the room! It's very very strange, I also have a Sullivan (Sully) born January 17, 2010. Sullys are the best!
What a great story and beautiful room! Sullivan is a blessed little boy!
I love this story as much as the room. My husband is adopted, and shares a similarly wonderful wait-and-hurry-up story with his family. Congratulations!!!!!!
Yay to a fellow Calgarian! Beautiful room & story. I love the nursery! We are expecting a little bundle in May....if you need anyone to sell that gorgeous crib to, I'd be game. Just sayin' : )
Thanks so much everyone!
rgn- Haha I'd love to but he's still sleeping in it for now! Keep checking Kijiji though...we found ours in Edmonton and just got a family member to pick it up for us (more than half off!).
tmcconne- Sullivan's really are the best :)
if my son's room wasn't already decorated I would want it to look like this. love the cool blues & grays.
