My Room: Sydney

Richardson, TX

If Sydney's room doesn't put a smile on your face then you may as well just head back to bed for the day. Her mom Misty shares: My husband Brian and I have degrees in art and work in the field. We wanted to make our daughter's room a unique reflection of joyful art and family history.

Brian created and painted the mural. It truly was a labor of love. Next we added the crib, chest of drawers and rocker that comprised my own baby room furniture, some 32 years prior and stored in pristine condition in my mom's house. We love the soft light made by the paper lantern by award winning designer Tord Boontje gifted to us from a friend.

The room is also full of prints from Dallas boutique We Are 1976 as well as two originals from Chicago artist Cody Hudson. The small room was a challenge and the addition of the baby room meant no more guest bedroom, so we added a convertible sofa to the room for overnight guests. The screen door was installed to keep our feline friends out.

Thanks Misty and Brian! Readers, Misty is a professional photographer and you can view her incredible body of work here.
