Shanna is a graphic and web designer who takes her work home with her. She tells us about Thatcher's playful room: The inspiration for my nursery came from a show logo I did for our local outdoor theatre - "Carousel", a musical play. I wanted to have the space be filled with a lot of color and pattern with a vintage feel to it.
One of the spacial problems I have in this space is the fact that I don't have a lot of storage space upstairs and I knew that with babies comes A LOT of baby stuff. So I added two Billy bookcases that flanked both sides of the crib for extra storage. To give it that extra umph of vintage feel, I added bead board running horizontally between the two bookcases as a cheap way to get a vintage texture in a house built in the '90s with a big impact!
Also we took out the old, gross, stained deep royal blue carpet and put in laminate flooring. To finish everything off, we added crown molding to the top of the bookshelves to give them that built-in look. I really wanted an upholstered chair instead of a glider and got a great deal at Walmart.com for mine - it looks similiar to the upholstered rockers in Pottery Barn. The rest of the furniture I bought on sale from JC Penny. The chandlier came from Overstock.com. The wall art came from a bunch of different places. The vintage games came from eBay, the photography came from bomobob on Etsy, and I created the poster above the crib using the same font from my inspiration logo. My mom sewed all the bedding, pillows and even made the fitted sheets. The antique toys are from mine and my father's collection.

Nomade Express Slee...
I LOVE this room. I don't know if its the red and white polka dots or what, but it makes me giddy happy to look at it. Fantastic job.
I love love love this. Seems like there aren't a lot of primary colors used in nurseries anymore. This is exciting and beautiful.
This is fantastic! I love all of the fabric and color choices!
I love all the fabric too! I also love the name Thatcher!
This is beautiful. I wish more people could use primary-ish colors so effectively.
this is very beautiful room i wish this on for me ..!
this is truly a fantastic room!!!
Love the colors and fabrics. Also love the fact that it's a *real* room (yes, there's a diaper genie!).
I love all the primary colors in the room as well. I checked Overstock.com for the chandelier but couldn't find it. Would you be able to share with me the brand and style/model? Thanks!
Love love love the print over the crib! Is it a quote from the Avett Brothers song?! Can I get a source for it, please?
