We're always interested in seeing shared spaces and especially when they're as sweet as this one. Julie fills us in: My husband and I moved to Switzerland from South Africa when I was pregnant with our second daughter Bailey, and at the same time I was going to start a new online company, so our 3 bedroom apartment had to be divided up between the main bedroom, a nursery for the new baby, and then we combined a guest room, study, playroom and bedroom for my 2nd daughter Zara in one! How you ask?
Fortunately the room is relatively large so we were able to have both a pull out bed (also in case of guests) and cot in the room (which is now stored away as she is able to sleep in the big bed), for storage we had one set of shelves devoted to "work" with the desk alongside and the other "play" with a wide open space in front.
Also, as this is a rental we weren't able to paint the walls so we opted for an all white colour scheme and then brought in colour with the wooden letter border, the linen and cushions. This has the advantage that we can easily convert this space into a permanent guest room or study one day. And I am sure all your readers will pick up on the fact that most of the items are from IKEA.
Also, we particularly love the fact that when Zara was a baby she had photos taken with both sets of families. I didn't know what I was going to do with these when Bailey was born, as I thought having these in our hall/lounge would be a bit unfair on her as she is not in them - but they are perfect for Zara's bedroom!
Thanks Julia and Zara!

Shaw's Original Fir...
cute cute room! Where did you get the hot air balloon? And is the pull out bed from ikea too?
the hot air balloon is a mobile from ikea.
Great job!
Great space - I love how functional it is while still being a sweet space for your little one!
I love this room! I feel your pain on not wanting to paint a rental... I am also collecting wood letters! Advice on where to find them?
Thanks so much for the comments! The wooden letters I bought from woodlandmanufacturing.com. They have all different colours, fonts and sizes.
The shelves are beautiful...so organized.
Love it, just have a quick question. HOW did you order the wooden letters? I got confused by all the options on the woodland site - thanks in advance!
Gorgeous room (I love Ikea and your touches with the Ikea items are very well placed!)!
I'm wondering, where did you get the twin bed? I have been looking for one that exact style and haven't been able to find anything I love.
found the bed, didn't realize it was Ikea too! Thanks :)
