I'm the type of girl who keeps secrets. If I've found the perfect method for cleaning blenders or organizing cords, I want to keep it to myself—just to have my friends in awe when I can locate a spare Ethernet cord in under 3.5 seconds. No easy feat in this endlessly cord-cluttered day and age.

Don't go out and spend tons of money on clips and holsters that promise to keep your cords at an arms reach. You really only need two things: A good wrapping technique and a few spare linens bags.

Those plastic-y bags your bed linens came packaged in are perfect for pulling double-duty around the house. Think about it: They're made of a strong enough material (unlike plastic baggies), they're usually clear so you can see what's stashed inside (unlike photo boxes), and they're secured with a real zipper.

As a bonus, we've been lucky to amass a collection of Queen-sized linens bags that are all the same size, sitting uniformly on a shelf in our spare closet. We use them to keep spare cords at-the-ready, but also gather up things like loose hardware (we have a bag full of just spare IKEA screws and Allen wrenches) and office supplies.
