- Inspiration for my palette:
- I wanted a neutral-gender color scheme for my son’s nursery. We already had all the white furniture and I love grey. So I just needed to add some color. I wanted the room to be a happy and bright space so I was between green, orange and yellow as accent colors. After creating three mood boards and seeing everything together, and with some help from family and friends, we decided on the yellow-grey-white color scheme. Once we started putting the room together I added some brown accents.
- Colors used in my room
- Soft and bold yellows, greys, whites and browns.
On the walls: Natural Grey (UL260-11) and Yellow Corn (330B-5) by Behr
- Tips for using color successfully
- I’d always start with a neutral color as a base. From there you can add more colors, complementing ones, contrasting ones, or just add some pops of a bold color. The variety of neutral colors now is huge. With a neutral color as a base you can experiment until you find a color scheme you like and you can always keep updating the look of your room, by just changing accessories, furniture, adding an accent wall or a fun pattern in totally new color.

Room for Color
Deftly done. Nuf said.
What a cheerful room! Great color choice, I know I would've loved a room like that when I was little.
Beautiful Room! Love the colors, the accesories, everything about it!
Gorgeous. So nicely done. I'm inspired!
I love this nursery!
Very nice. That bed looks so comfortable and pretty. Love the chair too. All around snug.
Beautiful. Where did you get the giraffe?
The giraffe looks like the ones that FAO Schwarz carries.
This room is really great. It has a lot of detail, but remains clean and edited. It has both sophistication and whimsy, which makes the perfect combination for a child's room. It's very fresh!
Hi all. Thanks so much for your kinds comments. I really had fun designing this room for my boy. @delg23 the giraffe is Melissa & Doug. We got ours at a local toy store, but you can find it online (amazon.com).
The giraffe is Melissa & Doug.
Yes, it's similar to the one FAO carries. But that one was way too expensive!
Very nice! There are a bit too many items cluttering the room for me but very nice.
I rarely "like" a nursery. This one is lovely.
Love IT!!!!
Beautiful!
Calm, nurturing, peaceful and happy all at the same time. Such a gift to your son.
