We've looked at painting curtains around here before — it's a fantastic way to bring some color and pattern to a room when you can't or don't want to paint. Nancy took the concept up a notch by doing putting an ombre treatment on chevron striped curtains…
Nancy, from the blog Owen's Olivia, purchased plain white curtain panels and then set out to customize them. She could have gone with a simple chevron stripe and gotten great results. By giving the stripes an ombre look, however, Nancy took the project to the next level. To achieve the ombre look with the stripes, Nancy used four different shades of blue, which she was able to pick up as sample cans.

Wow! That's amazing! Totally going into my files!
I wonder how they look after they've been washed a few times.
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! And, they're drapes, they don't get washed. But, if you add fabric medium to your paint, it's completely washable.
Painting curtains is a great way to add color to a room when you can't/don't want to paint?
I'm assuming they mean the walls, but I still don't think they proofread that part very carefully. =)
I like this look. I painted my fabric shower curtain with a stencil and it didn't turn out spectacularly. It's okay, just not great. I wish I'd tried a pattern more like this.
Oh my... that turned out spectacular.
LOVE the color fade and the matte paint on the fabric with a bit of sheen. Very smart.
The use of the gradiated colours adds a wonderful life and depth to the room. Well done!
wow I actually like this concept. Very DIY!
Ombre AND Chevrons? All it's missing is some owls. And a knockoff Eames rocker.
Dear AT,
I am so OVER chevron. These posts are getting redundant and boring. There are other patterns in the world.
Very cool. I'm not big on chevron myself, but the idea is pretty nifty.
If I tried something like that my chevron stripes would be all kinds of crooked. Especially on shiny fabric. Impressive!
I'm confused that we were seeing all kinds of chevron about a year ago, then it was kind of over (at least on the blogs) and now it's back. What gives?
Those are beautiful!
Chevron is a classic timeless look. I think the people fussing about it are NEVER going to be happy when the Next Big Thing is always another restoration of some different classic. If you find chevrons boring, skip the post.
