Nansulate Coatings claim effective insulation, corrosion resistance, mold resistance and led encapsulation all in an easy-to-apply paint like product. Too good to be true?
Nansulate has been around since 2004 and since then has been featured on a couple of lists including:
Builder News Best Product 2008, Energy Efficiency
Qualified Remodeler 100 Best Products 2008
While there are a few articles out there on the Web, most seem like copies of Nansulate's press releases. I am intrigued by this Youtube video, however, that shows the heat transmission difference between Nansulate coated material and uncoated.
If the claims are true, this could be a great insulation product for older homes without insulation.
Does anyone have any firsthand experience with Nansulate?
Thanks for the tip, Matt S!

This is certainly worth investigating more.
But what about the chemicals is leaves behind? Are they going to find Nansulate in fish years from now (just like they are doing with Scotchgard today)? I'm weary of such great inventions.
Just so you know this product doesn’t have to be placed on the exterior of your residence to work. You can paint the interior of you house or business with the product and it is available in white or clear if your going over a color you’d like to keep. The great thing about this coating is that once it’s applied the insulation is always going to be there. If you happen to want to change the color in a room, just go ahead and paint right over the Nansulate the only thing that your going to loose is the mold and mildew protection so if it’s in a area where it doesn’t need this protection, then so be it! You’ll still save money on your heat and air conditioning. The only problem is trying to get people to believe that the future is closer than they think. People think come on a paint to substitute 6 inches of insulation, how is that possible? I have one answer to that and it’s 2009! That’s why it’s possible. Were putting stuff on mars! Anyways, i just thought I’d drop you that note and about the fish! I’d still eat them. haha In fact, As you probably guessed by now I am a Nansulate salesperson but unless you buy from me I don’t make squat and I’m in Nova Scotia Canada so whats the odds of that! But I will soon be testing this product on a fish tank to see about it keeping my tank warmer longer, so if i don’t loose this blog i’ll keep you posted. Here is a real good video on it also!

You Tube has really good video’s if you search Nansulate, in fact there are many more uses to Nansulate then just your residence!
Thanks for listening!

In answer to the question regarding safety: We have had the product tested by third party testing for health and safety, because we are also concerned that our products are safe for use. You can find a copy of that report here for download: http://www.nansulate.com/environmental_data.htm
Kevin above is correct, ours is a next generation product that breaks the rules of conventional thinking about insulation. That is due to the nanotech science behind the product.
