Name: Natalie (19 months)
Location: Fairfax Station, VA
Color Inspiration: We recently bought my parents' home and the room we decided to give Natalie was my old room, which I decorated when I was 16. Out of my laziness to primer and paint everything, I decided to keep the lavender walls and dark blue trim. The Laura Ashley floral wallpaper border had to go, as well as the dark blue ceiling. Once I saw Penelope's room featured on ISLY's blog, with the scalloped border, I was inspired to paint a similar border to help lighten up the room. I wanted to re-use a lot of the items from Natalie's old room, which was brown, pink and green. When I found the matryoshka doll fabric that combined almost all the colors I wanted, I used it loosely as inspiration for the rest of the room.
Tip for Using Color: Use the range of tones from your color palette. Having dark and light shades of the same color makes the room feel more balanced and interesting.
Colors Used: Ivory, lavender, green, blue, brown and a little bit of pink.
Thanks for your colorful entry Vy and good luck!

Love the scalloped border! LOL at the Laura Ashley wallpaper - ah, good times.
The color is just the tip of the iceberg! The cozy floor bed, the clothesline with hooks, the bunting- it's all awesome. What a special room for two generations to have shared!
GORGEOUS!!!!!
Excellent job!
Very Nice. I especially enjoy the lamp shade at the ceiling fan.
Love the reading and writing corner of the room! Great Job!
It's beautiful and happy. I bought that same fabric in Japan last year!

I would love to know where you got the book shelves. The reading corner is great!
Beautiful!!! Very nice color scheme. Love the reading and writing corner.
Thanks all!
@withtwopugs, the book shelves are from Pottery Barn kids that I got from craigslist. I think they still carry them though as collectors' shelves.
I love this! The blue trim is not my favorite but the rest of the room makes up for it, to me. I also have a 2 week old niece name Natalie, so I love your name choice! My daughter's favorite color is purple, she would love this.
Any time Natalie needs a roomie let me know!
It is awesome, the room is absolutely perfect for little princess :x
The room turned out beautifully! I love how you did the scallop & incorporated the coat hooks into the vinyl sticker!! Genius!
Thanks, Melissa! I love your blog and Penelope's room was so inspiring for me... your comment means a lot! The tree actually isn't a vinyl sticker but something I painted.
You painted it? Even better. It looks fabulous!
