Even since I visited the Santa Barbara home of Chris and Kenny, I have started to notice the trend toward Native American inspired decor has really started to catch on, especially translated through throw blankets and pillows.
Urban Outfitters incorporated the decor into their stores several months back when they introduced the Pendleton line. The bright colors and beautiful patterns add a vibrant life to the home and I am definitely on board with this style.

I was very impressed seeing sculptor Donald Judd's bedroom full of bold Navajo rugs at his austere, modern compound in Marfa, TX. That dispelled any fears of queasy early '90s associations with Native American inspired decor.
Just because something has a geometric motif does not mean it is Native American...
But you're certainly correct about the trend. Frankly I don't think it has ever gone away, but the fact that it is suddenly trendy is kind of a bummer. I hope it doesn't become the new moroccan.
@arroyo. I hear you! I used to fetishize everything Moroccan, but now I've totally OD'd on it. But I've noticed miniature Moroccan lanterns are going for $5 Amazon--tempted to buy a bunch and string them up in the garden and hope I'll fall in love with the look again.
I'd say the trend is more towards rustic and ethnic woven fabrics, like the kilims (not embroidery) mentioned in another post. You've spotted the trend, you just identified it incorrectly.
