The Moshi Moshi 03i's modern minimal form factor is a bit deceiving. It's clean design belies the fact the handset offers an assortment of useful features: support for Bluetooth 2.1 gives users the ability for dual device calling/answering (e.g. mobile calls and VOIP calls), while the handset cradle gives iPhone 3GS and 4 users* a charging dock inbetween or during use.
Call quality is clear on both ends, about on par with our Netgear Skype phone, and we liked the heft/feel of the handset while using the 03i during paired Skype phone calls. The dual connection is quite useful, since Emily can sync/charge her iPhone (pictured in the first photo) and I can use the handset for Skype calls using my laptop's Bluetooth connection...a ménage à trois of wireless communication! Another bonus for cell phone addicts who might worry if some or all of those brain tumor studies prove true is using the 03i reduces radiation exposure by 95%.
The Moshi Moshi 03i a stylish inbetween solution for those of us who've dropped the landline, rely on VOIP or a mobile device, but still want the tactile comfort of a landline handset, all in a very sexy form factor. The only thing I didn't really like ironically was the packaging; it didn't seem to match the quality and detail of the handset itself. But the design, performance and also the myriad of international power plug adaptors included made up for the so-so box (trust a graphic designer to nitpick the packaging).
*Note: although the Moshi Moshi 03i will only dock/charge the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, the 03i connection works with any other Bluetooth-enabled device.
