Lately I've seen so many larger plants being used as a crucial part of home decor. Instead of the occasional small house plant, we're talking trees, large rocks, pebbles, and hanging gardens. But I have to ask: what's the practicality of it all?
Now any plant indoors will help with air quality and they're easy on the eyes to look at, so that's not where my concern lies. I take issue when it comes to cleaning such things! Most house plants do require some maintenance to keep their leaves clean and even if it tops your list of favorite things to do on a Saturday night, I'm pretty sure the cleaning of an entire tree wouldn't be.
Do you live in a space that has a little of the outdoors inside? Do you think it would be difficult to stay on top of? Share your thoughts on this trend in the comments below!

While I'd love to have a nice, big plant in the house, I KNOW my cats would dig like crazy in the dirt. I can't easily keep a tree in the bedroom due to a lack of windows - we sleep in the attic.
Maybe in the next house, if we have more windows in the bedroom, I'll get my tree. Maybe.
Ooh I love, but I have a difficult time keeping plants alive. I love looking at them but don't like the maintenance. I look at my beautiful pottery instead. Also I live on the top floor of a very well-treed property. I actually have my own tree outside my bedroom window so nature is not too far away.
I am fortunate enough that my mid-century modern house came with a built in planter (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v149/iheartmyTHO/Northcrest%20Tour%20of%20Homes%202010/kitchen.jpg). The mother-in-law tongues are pretty much unkillable. But the planter is a bit awkward to reach with most watering cans and they do collect cobwebs so I have to dust my plants on occasion. But I think the planter adds a nice touch to the house.
Why would a tree be a dust magnet? Who dusts the leaves of their plants? I have a rubber plant that I've had for years and I've never, ever dusted its big, flat leaves and they aren't dusty at all. Fake plants get dusty, not real ones.
So beautiful, but I'm pretty sure my cats would pee in it! :x
