Rugs are a huge investment, and not always a smart one if you have kids or a limited budget. Put off buying that heirloom Persian carpet, and try one of these DIY floorcloths instead. They are cheap and easy to make, and the designs are completely and utterly up to you.
1. Above, Meghan Plfug made over her home entryway, and capped it off with this geometric black and white floorcloth that completely covers her old floor. A full tutorial is over on Design Sponge.
2. Caitlin from Merrythought hand-printed some canvas and wound up with a fun and graphic rug. Poppytalk has all the details.
3. This rug was made from some heavy fabric, and backed with canvas to make it stronger and more durable. There's no sewing involved, as you can see over at Vintage Revivals.
4. Home Depot also did a version in the style of a zebra hide rug. They used a dropcloth and sealed it with polyurethane.
